Books

Her first book on forty top Greek and foreign scientists titled "Τα φωτεινά μυαλά δεν έχουν πατρίδα" ("The Bright Minds have no Homeland" Parisianos Publishing SA), which is a the first and unique in its kind (popularized science) book in Greece was published two years ago. The science writer tries to introduce to the public leading scientists, who have shaped and keep shaping the reality of the modern scientific world, to take mankind a step ahead and to affect our lives. How and why they have chosen their way, what attracts and motivated them to the science, what are the results of their research, what emotions do they experience after a scientific finding, at what time do they leave their lab? Do they have managed to balance life and science? These are questions that these distinguish personalities try to answer in a simple way in this book. The journalist's aim is to set the book heroes as role models in a crisis time where the Greek society, aimless, is trapped in a mediocracy rewarded system. Her new book on Nobel Laureates will be published soon.

“Due to the publication of her first book, the writer received congratulations from the President of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Prokopis Pavlopoulos.”
The second book "Ingenious Adventures" by Vasiliki Michopoulou is an effort to get some answers from Nobel Laureates including struggles and anxieties, satisfaction and joys, disappointments and pleasant surprises. The author in her book narrates in a simple and comprehensible way the steps the leading researchers followed by shaping their personal "paths" from the start of their careers to their award with the Nobel Prize. “…But the most important message I took from the Nobel Laureates I met is that it's worth trying to unlock the mysteries of this world, even if you don't succeed. More mature now and with a wealth of unique experiences, I can say that I am starting to realize my true place in this world ...”, says the author.

second-book-image
With her third book Vasiliki Michopoulou introduces science journalism to the readers in a complete theoretical and practical way. The book familiarizes its readers about the basic principles of Science Journalism, describes the way modern scientific research is conducted, develops typologies of modern reporting on Science, presents cases studies of special scientific and journalistic interest. The book examines the contemporary interface between Science and the Press from the perspective of journalists, focusing on their interactions with the scientific community. It is intended to be a useful companion to professional and wannabe science journalists/writers/editors, and students/teachers of science journalism or science communication.
